Ireland's cool, damp weather isn't always kind to fragrance — cold skin holds scent less readily than warm skin, and a lot of people find their favourite EDP fades faster here than it did on holiday somewhere warmer. A few small changes can make a real difference.
Moisturise Before You Spray
Fragrance clings to hydrated skin far better than dry skin. Apply an unscented (or matching) body lotion right after showering, then spray your perfume on top — this alone can extend longevity noticeably.
Target Pulse Points, Not Clothes
Wrists, neck, and behind the ears run warmer than the rest of your body, which helps the fragrance diffuse gradually throughout the day. Spraying onto clothing gives an initial burst but doesn't interact with body heat the same way, so it fades faster.
Don't Rub Your Wrists Together
It's an instinctive habit, but rubbing breaks down the fragrance's top notes and shortens its lifespan. Spray and let it dry naturally instead.
Layer With Matching Products
If your fragrance has a matching shower gel or body lotion, using it underneath your EDP builds a stronger base layer of scent that holds up longer — particularly useful for lighter florals that fade quickly on their own.
Choose Higher Concentration for Cold Weather
On genuinely cold days, an EDP or attar performs better than an Eau de Toilette, since the higher oil concentration isn't as dependent on skin warmth to release scent. Oud-based fragrances in particular tend to hold up well through an Irish winter.

Store It Properly
Heat, light, and humidity break fragrance down over time. Keep bottles away from bathroom steam and direct sunlight — a bedroom drawer or closet shelf is a better long-term home than a windowsill.
